Encinitas, a coastal beach city in North San Diego County, with a population of about 58,000 residents is actually made up of several smaller areas. Old Encinitas is an established eclectic beachside town, while New Encinitas has newer homes, shopping centers, and a golf course. On its east side, Encinitas is home to Olivenhain, a more rural, family and farm focused community. Leucadia is located near the coast and is an artistic neighborhood with galleries, restaurants, and homes, while Cardiff by the Sea is home to the famous top surfing spot, Swamis, the Lux Art Institute, and Mira Costa College.
Each November, the Annual Fall Festival celebrates this community and the business of growing poinsettia flowers. Two other annual events in September, the Wavecrest Woodie, a very popular car show for “Woodie” cars and the Annual Oktober Fest bring neighbors together, as well.
